The Rotary Clubs of Chaffee County are proud to announce the 2008 Celebrity Fly-fishing Weekend, on the Arkansas River at Salida, Colorado. The event will be a benefit for the Rotary Club of Salida, and Rotary Club of Buena Vista.

What is the Event ?
            On September 12 and 13th, ten celebrities have been invited to attend a fly-fishing event that is a fund raiser for the Rotary Clubs of Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado. The event begins Friday evening with a Public Dinner and Auction. At this dinner the you will have a chance to meet the Celebrities, enjoy a gourmet dinner, and participate in auctions to fish with the Celebs. Silent auctions and celebrity equipment auctions will also be held. Saturday, the celebrities will fish all day with a partner who has won an auction to fish with the celebrity. Saturday night will be a dinner, for celebrities and sponsors and donors.

Where  will the event be held ?
            The event will be held in the beautiful city of Salida, Colorado, on the Arkansas River. Salida is located a bit over two hours from Denver, and a bit under two hours from Colorado Springs.

Who will participate ?
            Ten celebrities from Professional Sports, Business, Politics, and Entertainment have been invited to attend this one day, two evening event. The celebrities will be teamed with a professional fly-fishing guide, and the lucky winner of an auction that will determine the fishing partner for each celebrity. Each team will float the Arkansas River, and enjoy a full day of fishing on this famous brown trout water.

The “Second Seat” fishing partner Auction
            An auction will be held at the public dinner Friday evening for the second seat in each Celebrities boat. A drawing will be held to determine the professional guide volunteer that will pilot the boat.

Saturday Evening Sponsor’s Reception
            On Saturday evening, September 13th, a reception will be held for Sponsors, Celebrities, and Guides.

Saturday Fishing Event
           Saturday will be a day of fun filled fishing for the ten boats, ten celebrities, the winning fishing partners and their professional fly-fishing guide will enjoy a full day of float fishing on the famous Arkansas River. Well known for its fantastic brown trout fishing, and Mother’s Day Caddis hatch, the Arkansas River is one of the best brown trout rivers in Colorado. All boats will depart from their assigned put in points by 9 AM for a fun day of fly-fishing. A shore lunch will be provided. Boats will finish by 5 PM, allowing celebrities time to relax and clean up prior to the evening events. See, www.flyfishingconnection.com/arkansas.html .

Friday Evening Dinner and Auctions
            Friday evening will be the Pubic Dinner and Auctions. There will also be both a silent and a live Auction of items donated by our Sponsors. Celebrities will also be asked to bring items for the auction from their profession. The Auctions to fish with the celebrities in the second seat of the boat will also be held.

Celebrity Transportation to Salida, and Lodging
            Lodging will be provided Friday and Saturday nights at local Bed and Breakfast’s for all celebrities and their guest. Transportation to Salida, will be the responsibility of the celebrity. Once our guests arrive in Salida, the Event Committee will provide all transportation, meals and lodging for both Friday and Saturday nights Further information can be obtained by Contacting Us .
