The Rotary Clubs of Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado

What is Rotary ?   ( www.rotary.org )

Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

There are over 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Individual Rotary clubs belong to Rotary International. Individual members, or Rotarians, belong to a club. The club is where most of Rotarians' meaningful service work is carried out. Clubs can be engaged not only in their communities, but also internationally. What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it.

Both Salida and Buena Vista Rotary Clubs are located in Rotary District 5470

The Rotary Club of Buena Vista was chartered in 1997. We currently have 23 dedicated members who enjoy giving their time and efforts to our local community and the world. Our varied group of business professionals represents a broad cross-section of our community and share the common desire to put “Service Above Self”. Our local projects include distributing dictionaries to several hundred third graders in Buena Vista and surrounding rural mountain school districts, raising funds for annual scholarships awarded to students pursuing higher education or vocational training, building a local playground, and providing manpower and energy to various local festivals and events. Our club has sponsored and supports one of the few Interact Youth Clubs in Colorado. Our international contributions include providing aid and supplies to an orphanage in Mexico and ongoing support of Rotary International initiatives such as Polio Plus .
