PERSONAL DATA:  Born May 2, 1957, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  Married to Wendy Lu Williams of Midland, Texas.  They have two children, Kimberly and Andrew.  Dom enjoys skiing, bicycling, fishing, and hiking with his family.
EDUCATION:  Graduated from Miami Palmetto High School, Miami, Florida, in 1975.  Bachelor of Science degree in ocean engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1979.  Master of science degree in aviation systems from the University of Tennessee in 1990.
SPECIAL HONORS: Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross (2) one with Combat “V”, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (2), Space Flight Medal (3), Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V” (2).
EXPERIENCE:  Designated a Naval Aviator in 1981.  Flew the A-7E Corsair with Attack Squadron 46 aboard the USS America from 1981 to 1983.  Transitioned to Strike Fighter Squadron 132 in 1983, flying the F/A-18 Hornet aboard the USS Coral Sea until 1986.  Attended the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School in 1987 and served as a Test Pilot at the Naval Air Test Center from 1988 to 1990.  Then was assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 87 flying the F/A-18 aboard the USS Roosevelt until 1992.  Participated in Operation Desert Storm, flying 38 combat missions.  In 1992 received orders to U.S. Space Command in Colorado Springs for two years before reporting to Strike Fighter Squadron 106 for F/A-18 refresher training.  Was enroute to his command tour of Strike Fighter Squadron 37 when selected as an Astronaut Candidate.
Gorie has accumulated over 6700 hours in more than 35 aircraft and has over 600 carrier landings.
Gorie retired from the Navy in September 2005.
NASA EXPERIENCE:  Selected as an astronaut candidate by NASA in December 1994, Gorie reported to the Johnson Space Center in March 1995.  He completed a year of training and evaluation and then was initially assigned to work safety issues for the Astronaut Office.  Gorie next served as a spacecraft communicator (CAPCOM) in Mission Control for numerous Space Shuttle flights, and was chief of the Astronaut Shuttle Branch.  A veteran of four space flights, Gorie has logged over 47 days in space.  He served as pilot aboard STS-91 in 1998 and STS-99 in 2000, and was the crew commander on STS-108 in 2001 and STS-123 in 2008.  Dom Gorie retired from NASA on June 4, 2010.
SPACE FLIGHT EXPERIENCE:  STS-91 Discovery (June 2-12, 1998) was the 9th and final Shuttle-Mir docking mission, concluding the joint U.S./Russian Phase I Program.  The STS-91 mission was accomplished in 154 Earth orbits, traveling 3.8 million miles in 235 hours and 54 seconds.
STS-99 (February 11-22, 2000) was an 11-day flight during which the international crew aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour worked dual shifts to support payload operations.  The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission mapped more than 47 million miles of the Earth’s land surface.  The STS-99 mission was accomplished in 181 Earth orbits, traveling over 4 million miles in 268 hours and 38 minutes.
STS-108 Endeavour (December 5-17, 2001) was the 12th shuttle flight to visit the International Space Station.  Endeavour’s crew delivered the Expedition-4 crew and returned the Expedition-3 crew.  The crew unloaded over 3 tons of equipment and supplies from the Raffaello Multi-Purpose Logistics Module, and performed one space walk to wrap thermal blankets around ISS Solar Array Gimbals.  STS-108 was accomplished in 185 Earth orbits, traveling 4.8 million miles in 283 hours and 36 minutes.
STS-123 Endeavour (March 11-26, 2008) was a night launch and landing.  It was the 25th Shuttle/Station assembly mission.  Endeavour’s crew delivered both the Japanese Experiment Logistics Module – Pressurized Section, the first pressurized component of JAXA’s Kibo Laboratory, and the final element of the station’s Mobile Servicing System, the Canadian-built Special Purpose Dextrous Manipulator, also known as “Dextre”.  Five spacewalks were performed while on the station.  The STS-123 crew also delivered Expedition 16 Flight Engineer Garrett Reisman, and returned to Earth with ESA’s Léopold Eyharts.  The mission was accomplished in 250 orbits of the Earth, traveling over 6 million miles in 15 days, 18 hours, 10 minutes and 54 seconds.

Dave Preston

Dave “Sarge” Preston has a history of success stemming back to his college days where he earned both academic and athletic All-American honors as a student athlete at Bowling Green State University.  Preston graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was awarded a Post-Graduate Scholarship by the NCAA.  He was also selected by the New England Patriots in the NFL Draft that year, and elected to forego an MBA program to pursue a career in professional football. His pursuits landed him in Denver Colorado the following year, where he played six seasons as a running back with the Denver Broncos. He earned Special Team MVP his Rookie season. His most productive year was in 1981 when he combined for 1,150 yards rushing and receiving. During his years with the Broncos, he was also active in the community, serving as Colorado Sports Chairman for Muscular Dystrophy. He was honored by the Boy Scout of America for his community involvement and nominated for the Miller High-Life NFL Man-of-the Year award in 1981.  Preston is a Founding Board Member of Rebuilding Together Metro Denver, and he currently serves on the Denver Bronco Alumni Council.

 

Upon retirement from professional football, Preston opened and operated his own Real Estate appraisal firm, Preston & Associates, Inc. The firm was active in the Denver metropolitan region serving both banking clients and as well as small independent mortgage brokers. Preston retired from real estate in 2001 to pursue other interests. He currently owns and operates a number of private companies including his own private equity firm.

 

Preston is the father of three grown daughters and the grandfather of one grandson.

 

 

Steve Foley

Stephen James Foley (born November 11, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a former American football safety in the National Football League. He played his entire 11-year NFL career (1976-1986) with the Denver Broncos after one year (1975) with the Jacksonville Express of the World Football League.

As a member of the Broncos, Foley played in the Super Bowl twice. He was a starter in Super Bowl XII against the Dallas Cowboys and played in Super Bowl XXI (his final game) against the New York Giants. The Broncos lost both of these games.

Foley scored two touchdowns in his career, both of which came in 1984. He returned a fumble 22 yards on October 15 against the Green Bay Packers and an interception 40 yards on December 15 against the Seattle Seahawks. These scores were key contributions to Broncos' victories.

Mark Samuel Cooper was born on February 14, 1960 in Camden, New Jersey. After going to high school at Killian (Miami, FL), Cooper attended the University of Miami. Cooper made his professional debut in the NFL in 1983 with the Denver Broncos. He played for the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1985 was Mark Cooper's best year.

Mark Randall

Former Nugget player and Coach, Mark Randall currently serves as a Community Ambassador. He oversees the Ambassador program which includes former Denver Nugget players Ervin Johnson and Walter Davis. In this role, Randall is responsible for working with children to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and basketball.   Included in his job responsibilities are public speaking, support of philanthropic organizations/causes and on occasion, serves as emcee at charitable functions throughout the state. You will also find Mark on the microphone for in-game promotions at all Nuggets home games.

Karl Mecklenburg

images_confirmedkarl_mecklenburgA Former Denver Broncos captain and All-Pro, Karl Mecklenburg rose from being a college walk-on and a 12th round draft pick to a pro career that included six Pro Bowl and three Super Bowl appearances.  Considered the NFL's most versatile player, Karl played all seven defensive front positions.  Bronco coaches wanted him at the point of attack and would move him throughout the game.  There were many games where Mecklenburg played all 7 positions in the course of a single game.

Since retiring from pro football in 1995, Karl divides his time between family, motivational speaking, and his ongoing charity involvements.  Karl and his wife Kathi have three children.  The Mecklenburgs still live in Littleton Colorado and attend West Bowles Community Church.  In 2001 Karl was inducted into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame and the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.  He also serves on the Broncos Alumni Council.    The Mecklenburgs have had a strong commitment to many Colorado charities through the years, which they continue to uphold.
