The Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County were significant beneficaries of proceeds from the 2008 Celebrity Double Haul Event.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Chaffee County provides a safe place for hundreds of area children to go after school and during the summer. Our sites offer programs in the following core service areas:

The Rotary Club contributed to Chaffee People's Clinic to provide funds for medical care for children of low income families.

Chaffee People's Clinic provides quality health care for people who live or work in Chaffee County and have low-income and no health insurance.

 

 

Family and Youth Initiatives serves over 200 Chaffee County youth and families a year through three programs including Chaffee County Mentors, Nurturing Parenting Program and Youth @ Crossroads.

Family & Youth Initiatives “began� in 2006. The organization was born out of the Build A Generation® planning process which helped to spearhead prevention programs including Chaffee County Mentors, Youth @ Crossroads and Boys & Girls Club of Chaffee County to reduce risks and increase opportunities, recognition and skills for local youth and families.

The Rotary Clubs of Salida and Buena Vista have both created Charitable Foundations. Each year the clubs distribute the proceeds from the "Double Haul' to worthwhile charities in their community. 

Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

From the 2008 Double Haul Event, the Salida Rotary Club has a budget of $6,000 in scholarships to be given to 2009 Graduating Seniors. Buena Vista Rotary Club will be awarding three scholarships to high school seniors in 2009.

In 2009 sixteen Salida graduating seniors have made application for these Rotary Scholarships.
