Celebrity Fly Fishing Charity Event

The Rotary Clubs of Chaffee County are proud to announce the 2008 Celebrity Fly-fishing Weekend, on the Arkansas River at Salida, Colorado
The event will be a benefit for the Rotary Club of Salida, and Rotary Club of Buena Vista.

What is the Event ?
            On September 12 and 13th, ten celebrities will be invited to attend a fly fishing event that is a fund raiser for the Rotary Clubs of Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado. The event begins Friday evening with a “Sponsors Reception”. Saturday, the celebrities will fill all day with a partner who has won an auction to fish with the celebrity. Saturday night will be a dinner , open to the public, followed by an auction of goods and services contributed by our sponsors and celebrities.

Where  will the event be held ?
            The event will be held in the beautiful city of Salida, Colorado, on the Arkansas River. Salida is located a bit over two hours from Denver,  and a bit under two hours from Colorado Springs.

When will it be held ?
            Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Who will participate ?
            Ten celebrities from Professional Sports, Business, Politics, and Entertainment will be invited to attend this one day, two evening event. The celebrities will be teamed with a professional fly-fishing guide, and the lucky winner of an auction that will determine the fishing partner for each celebrity.  Each team will float the Arkansas River, and enjoy a full day of fishing on this famous brown trout water.

The “Second Seat” fishing partner Auction
            An on-line (Internet) auction will be held for the second seat in each Celebrities boat.  A drawing will be held to determine the professional guide volunteer that will pilot the boat. Thus the teams will be formed, and announced, no later than August 15th, 2008

Friday Evening Sponsor’s Reception
            On Friday evening, September 12th, a private reception will be held so the teams can become acquainted, and the starting time and launch site for each boat will be determined.  Challenges can be made between teams, and sponsors can announce their pledges based on the team's performance.

Saturday Fishing Event
           Saturday will be a day of fun filled fishing for the ten boats, ten celebrities, the winning fishing partners and their professional fly fishing guide will enjoy a full day of float fishing on the famous Arkansas River. Well known for its fantastic brown trout fishing, and Mother’s Day Caddis hatch, the Arkansas River is one of the best brown trout rivers in Colorado. Activities will begin with an early morning breakfast for all participants. All boats will depart from their assigned put in points by 9 AM for a fun day of fly fishing. Saturday Evening Dinner and Auctions
            Saturday evening will be the Awards Dinner that will be Open-to-the-Public. There will also be both a silent and a live Auction of items donated by our Sponsors. Celebrities will also be asked to bring items for the auction from their profession.
Each Celebrity will be asked to give a brief introduction to our dinner attendees. Autograph tables will be set up for celebrities before our dinner and evening program.

Celebrity Transportation to Salida, and Lodging
            Lodging will be provided Friday and Saturday nights at local Bed and Breakfast’s for all celebrities and their guest. Transportation to Salida, will be the responsibility of the celebrity.
